Hello - from Arena Yacht Sales!

We have the same feelings about having a web site and e-mail as most of us do about going to the dentist, but people have been after us to start a site, so here goes...

We are the longest running dealership for MacGregor Yachts on the planet, having started selling their sailboats in 1968 on a handshake with a buoyant and bright-eyed Roger MacGregor (who by the way, hasn't changed a bit). In addition to selling everything from the 15-foot catamaran to the giant 65 footer, we have, then and now, done it in the San Francisco area.

Not many people would ever have a problem agreeing with the fact that there is not a more challenging, exciting, and year-round sailing area than San Francisco Bay. For those who accuse the MacGregor boats as not strong enough for heavy-duty conditions, they need to talk to us. We have without fail tested early or pre-production models here on the bay and, well, just tried to break them. No luck on that; and we know what we're talking about! Our closest estimate is that in the last 39 years we have put out almost 1,000 sailboats, and they have all been bay tested!

Okay, enough about our proving grounds. Any business is an evolutionary process, and while MacGregor was initially just another product line for AYS, we slowly came to realize over the years just how important that line was. Most boats are almost clones of each other, with just different window dressing, whether power or sail. But MacGregors are different.

Roger MacGregor's genius lies in knowing what is important to the average person, with the average skill level and the average pocketbook. In fact, he built his entire company around that philosophy, and it's what makes MacGregor Yachts the success story that it is. Are the MacGregor sailboats basic? Yes. Are they lightweight? Certainly. Are they inexpensive? Absolutely. But these things are their strengths, not their weaknesses, as competitors argue.
